Springtime in Georgetown

I love springtime in Washington, D.C. -- cherry blossoms are in bloom, historic row houses are on full display, and brightly colored planters are full of fresh blooms.  One of my favorite neighborhoods is, and has always been, historic Georgetown. It is a sleepy, romantic urban village, packed with beautiful homes and shops. Before moving to New York City my husband & I lived in a pretty 19th century townhouse and I cherished our time there. Here are a few of my favorite snaps taken while visiting recently on a work trip. I hope you enjoy them!

The Dream Closet

Photo: Shared via Stark Carpet

If you're anything like me you find joy in organizing & arranging the items that you hold dear. Some people find this process daunting because it involves sorting, folding, piles, and tidying up. I, though, find it empowering and a pleasant way to keep everything in its place. One of the spaces that I like to keep pretty is my closet. Although some of the closets shown below rival the size of my bedroom, I like to keep inspirational images in mind when organizing. I arrange by season, but also by occasion, and like to display my shoes & bags in a separate closet that my husband so lovingly acquiesced to me when we chose our apartment. I also maintain a separate piece of furniture for my pajamas and ladylike items ; )

These dream closets were designed with great thought and emphasis on both beauty and functionality. Designing the perfect closet requires attention to fine details such as the door and cabinet design, hardware, lighting, and finishes. I hope that they will provide you with a few good ideas on how to arrange your items or even inspire you to design a new closet in your own home! St. Barths State of Mind

Bonjour! Saint Barthelemy, affectionately referred to as St Barths, is perhaps the most romantic island in the French Caribbean, a place my husband & I were fortunate enough to visit. This distinctive island is a wonderful place to one-of-a-kind furniture pieces and accessories. We loved our stay in a private bungalow at Villa Marie, perched high up in the hills, far away from the champagne-fueled party scene at Nikki Beach. One of my favorite times of day there was breakfast, where we enjoyed french scrambled eggs and fresh coffee on our balcony while taking in the dramatic, postcard-perfect island vista. I hope my photos inspire you to plan a trip to St. Barths very soon!
